Vasomotor rhinitis

Vasomotor rhinitis

There are two forms of vasomotor rhinitis:

  • allergic
  • neuro.

In the etiology of allergic rhinitis vasomotor shape plays a crucial role allergen - the substance for which there is increased sensitivity of the organism. Contact with this substance on the mucosa of the upper airway and suction it immediately calls the attack cold.

In the occurrence of autonomic forms of rhinitis are significant organic and functional changes in the nervous system, hypothalamus, disorders of endocrine function.

Among the allergic form of vasomotor rhinitis distinguished:

  • seasonal
  • permanent types.

Seasonal nasal disease is usually associated with the pollen of flowering plants, so it is often called hay cold, or hay fever. Seasonal allergic form is repeated in a patient at the same time in the flowering period of any one, and sometimes several plants. Increasing the number of allergens lengthens during seasonal allergic rhinitis, and prolonged and repeated aggravation of nasal vasomotor mechanisms in violation of the nasal mucosa promotes the progression of the seasonal forms of the disease in a constant.

Permanent form of allergic rhinitis is usually caused by allergens, to which man is in constant contact, such as house dust, animal dander, feather pillows, etc. Sensitization often occurs to several allergens, which creates additional difficulties in diagnosis and treatment of disease.

Vasomotor rhinitis neurovegetative form is based on a violation of neural mechanisms underlying normal physiology of the nose, as a result of the usual stimuli evoke hyperergic reaction of the nasal mucosa.

The main symptoms of vasomotor rhinitis of both forms are paroxysmal sneezing, accompanied by nasal obstruction gidroreey and nasal breathing. Sneezing is usually associated with itching in the nose, and occasionally in the oral cavity and pharynx. Discharge from the nose is profuse, watery or mucous membranes, shortness of breath due to swelling of the nasal mucosa, mainly lower and middle turbinates.

Treatment of vasomotor rhinitis is usually complex: desensitization (use of antihistamines, hormone drugs), local methods, including hirurgichekie (endonasal procaine blockade vnutrislizistoe administration of corticosteroids, an infusion of binding agents, intranasal solution of novocaine blockade, burning reflex zones), and effects on the nervous the system.
