Therapeutic treatments for asthma

The therapeutic techniques used in the treatment of asthma, differ significantly, depending on the phase of the disease.

In the therapy can be divided into two phases:

  • treatment during the acute
  • therapy in remission

Thus, in the period of exacerbation conducted syndromic treatment and in remission, etiotropic coaching methods.

Therapy in remission - a long-term joint work of the patient and the physician in the selection of treatment methods, proper use of drugs. During this period, the task is to teach the patient's physician to properly use medications and intelligently controlling the condition, without risk to their health to modify the treatment regimen.

The essence of coaching methods etiotropic in remission - an imitation of the pathogenic response to low intensity and, consequently, stimulation of various endogenous mechanisms to protect the patient from these damaging factors (allergens, antigenic factors of nature).

The goal of therapy should be to provide opportunities to lead a normal lifestyle, including sports and physical activities. Asthma symptoms should be absent during both day and night, lung function should be normalized and achieved no significant daily fluctuations in peak flow readings. The need for taking beta-agonists should be reduced to a small, preferably less than once every two or three days, without causing an exacerbation of the disease.

In this case, the side effects of therapy should be entirely absent, especially in regard to growth and development.

Inability to achieve these goals, demonstrates the need for change in therapy.
