Causes of renovascular disease

The main cause of renovascular disease is a narrowing of the renal vessels, and as a consequence, impaired renal blood flow. narrowing of the renal artery can be in:

atherosclerosis and occurrence of plaque in the lumen of the artery

narrowing of the muscular layer of the artery

Congenital tortuosity of the artery

Factors affecting the development of atherosclerosis - a smoking, obesity, high blood cholesterol and diabetes, as well as genetic predisposition.

The most common sign of renovascular disease is nephrotic syndrome. With nephrotic syndrome there is increased level of protein in the urine. Protein in the urine in renal disease is a result of a violation of their filtration function.
