Hiccup
Hiccups - involuntary spasmodic contraction of the diaphragm, accompanied by a flow of air into the airways and a reduction of the vocal cords.
Prolonged hiccups can be caused by irritation of the diaphragm, which can occur with lesions of nearby organs - stomach, intestine, diaphragmatic hernia.
In some cases, the cause of long-term hiccups include:
- myocardial infarction
- pericarditis
- ascites
- peritonitis
- psychogenic disorder.
