Massage - manual lymph drainage for lymphedema

Massage - manual lymph drainage for lymphedema

Manual lymphatic drainage should be performed by qualified personnel every day for 1 hour. Duration of massage is an average of 20 days. Manual lymph drainage in treatment of lymphedema has a special, even exceptional value.

The purpose of manual lymphatic drainage, above all - is to support and strengthen the drainage function of the lymphatic vessels, that is, the acceleration of lymph drainage, as well as increased transport function of the lymphatic system. Manual lymph drainage is not only supports the circulation of lymph in the vessels, but also removes it from the congestion of the soft tissues.

Manual lymphatic drainage can be divided into: transport and absorption.

"Transport" massage is aimed at removal of clusters of lymph from the tissues. It starts always in the proximal (ie, neighbors), but not in the distal parts of the hand, as is often mistakenly do, so you must first release the proximal region of the lymphatic channels to the free outflow of lymph from the distal (distant) parts of the upper extremity. Massage movements should be carefully walk along the lymphatic vessels.

Absorption is characterized by rhythmic massage by squeezing the hand across the circle with a light finger movements and hand massage. Massage begins in the proximal (near) parts of the arm that is affected by lymphedema, and moves in a distal direction (ie towards the toes). Thus there is a loosening of the fibrous adipose tissue changed hands. The power and pressure of massage movements should not lead to a breach of the fragile lymphatic capillaries and their constant compression, and thus the blockade that violates the function of the lymphatic pump.

Pneumomassage is a method of intermittent compression (compression) and refers to additional therapeutic interventions used in treatment of lymphedema.

This procedure is carried out by means of special devices such as intermittent pneumocompression AES-5, "Flowpac", "Flowtroii", Flowpress "and others. Pneumomassage carried out as follows: the hand is placed in an inflatable cuff, which is then filled with air under pressure. This pressure is transmitted to the upper limb, due to which stagnant lymph is squeezed from the distal to the proximal arm.

Sleeve system for vehicles pneumomassage exist as a single-chamber and multichamber. During use of the multi-cuff first inflates the cuff chamber, farthest from the trunk, and then turn the air filled with the following cameras that are located closer to the body. The procedure of this massage is like a "milking" of the lymph tissue. It is very desirable is that the edematous fluid displaced from distant parts of limbs to its base, stagnate there. This is due to the fact that the stagnant protein dissolved in the lymph, causing secondary tissue changes, worsening the condition of the patient, and eventually develops at the base of the finiteness of hardening of tissues.
