Causes of peripheral vascular disease


The most important and the main cause of this pathology is atherosclerosis. With age, the risk of atherosclerosis increases. Men suffer from atherosclerosis than women. Other factors of peripheral vascular disease:
  • smoking
  • diabetes atherosclerosis
  • High blood pressure
  • Elevated blood levels of cholesterol or triglycerides (the main material of atherosclerotic plaques)
  • High blood levels of amino acid homocysteine
  • Overweight (30%)
