Fracture of the foot


The foot of man consists of 26 bones. The bones of the foot wide and flat interconnected strong ligaments. The mobility of the foot bones are much smaller than the mobility of the wrist. Foot performs a support function.

Fractures of the foot are common and make up a third of all closed fractures. Traumatic injuries are the result of a fall from a height on the legs, resulting in a direct blow to the foot, due to subluxations of the foot when walking on uneven surfaces.
